“You do not understand your features. Your features are not your beautiful nose, your beautiful cheeks, beautiful lips, and so on. These are not your features. Your features are your beautiful behavior, your beautiful character, your beautiful health, your beautiful spirit, your beautiful advice, your beautiful wisdom, your beautiful inspiration.” ~ Yogi Bhajan, August 1978
We live in a culture that has hijacked the woman. The beauty of woman’s unique radiance, projection and beingness has been commodified. She has been sold a lie: that there is something innately wrong and ugly about her and she needs to buy something to be beautiful. We have been programmed to feel that we are not enough. This has created a society full of very insecure women, who feel that they are not enough, that they are somehow inherently flawed, that they are in competition with other women.
In reality, a woman’s beauty is unique. It is her grace, it is her creativity, it is her radiance. It is Kundalini. “A woman has to learn the fundamental truth that she is she and she has her own design, her own consent, her own self, her own life, her own projection, and her own beauty.” ~ Yogi Bhajan.
Through the practice of Kundalini Yoga and meditation, we have the great opportunity to experience our beauty and radiance as women. The system is scientific and artistic. Kundalini is the creative, feminine force within us all. It is the movement of energy and flow of life. Kundalini is expressed as the radiant woman.
The times are changing, as women around the globe begin to reclaim their bodies, minds and spirits. The era of the suppression of the feminine is coming to an end, as women stand in their radiance. As empowering as this movement is, stepping into our radiance can also be scary. It can feel overwhelming and awkward, but as we continue to do so, we grow, we gain in confidence, we learn to see the beauty in ourselves as women and in other women.
As we strengthen our radiance, our vibration becomes grace, generosity, beauty and peace. It is through this self mastery that we then have the energy, confidence and strength to create a society of peace and a world full of beauty.
From breathing techniques and yoga postures to morning routines and self blessings, Kundalini offers the practical tools that women can use to energize their bodies, minds and spirits, creating a radiance that can not be bought and sold. Simple practices that often take only a few minutes each day yield profound results.
Try this simple 3-minute practice to increase confidence and self esteem:
- Prepare by chanting this mantra three times: Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo.
- Sit in a comfortable posture with the hands resting on the knees, index finger and thumb touching.
- The eyes are 1/10th open, gently gazing down toward the tip of the nose.
- Inhale deeply. Suspend the breath and mentally recite: I am Bountiful, I am Blissful, I am Beautiful.
- Exhale completely. Suspend the breath out and mentally recite: Excel, Excel, Fearless.
On April 7, I will share these profound teachings in a women’s workshop at Sat Nam Studios, 4:00-6:00 pm. We will gather as a circle of women in a supportive community, full of beauty and grace. Through the practice of physical yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation, we will balance the glandular system, cleanse the blood, reboot the metabolism, create a strong radiant body and clear the arcline. I will share lifestyle tips to enhance inner and outer beauty, as well as ancient yogic beauty secrets. It will be an experience full of the beauty, radiance and magic that is the woman.
